A block of mass 2.0kg resting on a smooth horizontal plane is acted  upon simultaneously by two forces 10N due north and 10N due east.  The magnitude of the acceleration produce by the force on the block.

total force F=(√(10^2 +10^2 ))=14.1 N  a=(F/m)=((14.1)/2)=7.05 m/s^2
$${total}\:{force}\:{F}=\sqrt{\mathrm{10}^{\mathrm{2}} +\mathrm{10}^{\mathrm{2}} }=\mathrm{14}.\mathrm{1}\:{N} \\ $$$${a}=\frac{{F}}{{m}}=\frac{\mathrm{14}.\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}=\mathrm{7}.\mathrm{05}\:{m}/{s}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$
