S=(4+((12)/2)−1)×4=36
$${S}=\left(\mathrm{4}+\frac{\mathrm{12}}{\mathrm{2}}−\mathrm{1}\right)×\mathrm{4}=\mathrm{36} \\ $$

[(π/4)(12)^2 −(1/2)(12)(12)]−[(π/4)(4)^2 −(1/2)(4)(4)]  =(36π−72)−(4π−8)  =32π−64 .
$$\left[\frac{\pi}{\mathrm{4}}\left(\mathrm{12}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} −\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\left(\mathrm{12}\right)\left(\mathrm{12}\right)\right]−\left[\frac{\pi}{\mathrm{4}}\left(\mathrm{4}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} −\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\left(\mathrm{4}\right)\left(\mathrm{4}\right)\right] \\ $$$$=\left(\mathrm{36}\pi−\mathrm{72}\right)−\left(\mathrm{4}\pi−\mathrm{8}\right) \\ $$$$=\mathrm{32}\pi−\mathrm{64}\:. \\ $$
