(i) C_8 ^(10)  = ((10×9)/(2×1))=45
$$\left(\mathrm{i}\right)\:\mathrm{C}_{\mathrm{8}} ^{\mathrm{10}} \:=\:\frac{\mathrm{10}×\mathrm{9}}{\mathrm{2}×\mathrm{1}}=\mathrm{45}\: \\ $$

(ii) C_(8−3) ^(10−3)  = C_5 ^7  = ((7×6)/(2×1)) = 21
$$\left(\mathrm{ii}\right)\:\mathrm{C}_{\mathrm{8}−\mathrm{3}} ^{\mathrm{10}−\mathrm{3}} \:=\:\mathrm{C}_{\mathrm{5}} ^{\mathrm{7}} \:=\:\frac{\mathrm{7}×\mathrm{6}}{\mathrm{2}×\mathrm{1}}\:=\:\mathrm{21}\: \\ $$

number of questions required to answer = 8  total = 10  (i)^(10) C_8  = ((10!)/(2!8!))  (ii)^7 C_5  = ((7!)/(2!5!))  (iii) if he answers first question or 2nd question =^9 C_7    if he answers first two =^8 C_6   ⇒ total = 2(^9 C_7 ) +^8 C_6
