AB=(√(6^2 +8^2 ))=10  (6−x)+(8−x)=10  ⇒x=2  shaded area=(1/2)×(8−2)×2=6
$${AB}=\sqrt{\mathrm{6}^{\mathrm{2}} +\mathrm{8}^{\mathrm{2}} }=\mathrm{10} \\ $$$$\left(\mathrm{6}−{x}\right)+\left(\mathrm{8}−{x}\right)=\mathrm{10} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{x}=\mathrm{2} \\ $$$${shaded}\:{area}=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}×\left(\mathrm{8}−\mathrm{2}\right)×\mathrm{2}=\mathrm{6} \\ $$
