((a+b)/2)−b=b  ⇒a=3b  ⇒(a/b)=3
$$\frac{{a}+{b}}{\mathrm{2}}−{b}={b} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{a}=\mathrm{3}{b} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\frac{{a}}{{b}}=\mathrm{3} \\ $$

How did you come about the   ((a + b)/2) − b  =  b     sir
$$\mathrm{How}\:\mathrm{did}\:\mathrm{you}\:\mathrm{come}\:\mathrm{about}\:\mathrm{the}\:\:\:\frac{\mathrm{a}\:+\:\mathrm{b}}{\mathrm{2}}\:−\:\mathrm{b}\:\:=\:\:\mathrm{b}\:\:\:\:\:\mathrm{sir} \\ $$

with a parabola we have:  e=f  h=2f  tan θ=(h/(L/2))=((4f)/L)  just apply this in your question.
$${with}\:{a}\:{parabola}\:{we}\:{have}: \\ $$$${e}={f} \\ $$$${h}=\mathrm{2}{f} \\ $$$$\mathrm{tan}\:\theta=\frac{{h}}{{L}/\mathrm{2}}=\frac{\mathrm{4}{f}}{{L}} \\ $$$${just}\:{apply}\:{this}\:{in}\:{your}\:{question}. \\ $$

diagonal of square = a+b  ((a+b)/2)=2b  ......
