x=3 and y=2 works as an integer pair solution found by trial and error. 3^2 +2^3 =9+8=17 x+y=2+3=5
$${x}=\mathrm{3}\:{and}\:{y}=\mathrm{2}\:{works}\:{as}\:{an}\:{integer}\:{pair} \\ $$$${solution}\:{found}\:{by}\:{trial}\:{and}\:{error}. \\ $$$$\mathrm{3}^{\mathrm{2}} +\mathrm{2}^{\mathrm{3}} =\mathrm{9}+\mathrm{8}=\mathrm{17} \\ $$$${x}+{y}=\mathrm{2}+\mathrm{3}=\mathrm{5} \\ $$
