R . A light string QS of length 50 cm fixed to the wall at S is

used to maintain the meter rule in equilibrium .

If PQ = 40 cm, the tension in the string is ?

t a n θ = \frac{30}{40} = \frac{3}{4}

T s i n θ \times p Q = 5 \times p R

T = \frac{5 \times 100}{40 \times \frac{3}{5}} \to= \frac{25 \times 100}{120} = \frac{250}{12} N
