I dont know about division method, but  I use this method  12.167  Find what number when its cube is equal  or less than 12, the answer is 2 (2^3  = 8)  Find what number when its cube,  the last digit is equal 7, the answer is 3 (3^3  = 27)  Hence the answer is 23
