{(x + \frac{1}{x})}^{3} - 3 (x + \frac{1}{x}) + (x + \frac{1}{x})

n o w x + \frac{1}{x} = 3 + 2 \sqrt{2} + \frac{1}{3 + 2 \sqrt{2}} = 3 + 2 \sqrt{2} + 3 - 2 \sqrt{2} = 6
