distance from first image (1) in M1 to the second image (2′) is −1−(−5)=4. distance from second image (2′) to the third image (3) is −5−(−7)=2.
$${distance}\:{from}\:{first}\:{image}\:\left(\mathrm{1}\right)\:{in}\:{M}\mathrm{1} \\ $$$${to}\:{the}\:{second}\:{image}\:\left(\mathrm{2}'\right)\:{is}\: \\ $$$$−\mathrm{1}−\left(−\mathrm{5}\right)=\mathrm{4}. \\ $$$${distance}\:{from}\:{second}\:{image}\:\left(\mathrm{2}'\right) \\ $$$${to}\:{the}\:{third}\:{image}\:\left(\mathrm{3}\right)\:{is}\: \\ $$$$−\mathrm{5}−\left(−\mathrm{7}\right)=\mathrm{2}. \\ $$
