△ABP∼△CBA ∴((AB)/(BP))=((BC)/(AB)) ⇒AB^2 =(7+9).9 AB=12cm
$$\bigtriangleup{ABP}\sim\bigtriangleup{CBA} \\ $$$$\therefore\frac{{AB}}{{BP}}=\frac{{BC}}{{AB}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{AB}^{\mathrm{2}} =\left(\mathrm{7}+\mathrm{9}\right).\mathrm{9} \\ $$$${AB}=\mathrm{12}{cm} \\ $$
