m_B g−T=m_B a T=m_A a. Then m_B g=(m_A +m_B )a v_A ^2 =v_B ^2 =2ah Because a_A =0 for displacement of m_A >h. h=(v_A ^2 /(2a))=((v_A ^2 (m_A +m_B ))/(2m_B g)).
$${m}_{{B}} {g}−{T}={m}_{{B}} {a} \\ $$$${T}={m}_{{A}} {a}.\:{Then} \\ $$$${m}_{{B}} {g}=\left({m}_{{A}} +{m}_{{B}} \right){a} \\ $$$${v}_{{A}} ^{\mathrm{2}} ={v}_{{B}} ^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{2}{ah}\:\:\:\:\:\:\:{Because}\:{a}_{{A}} =\mathrm{0} \\ $$$${for}\:{displacement}\:{of}\:{m}_{{A}} \:>{h}.\: \\ $$$$\:{h}=\frac{{v}_{{A}} ^{\mathrm{2}} }{\mathrm{2}{a}}=\frac{{v}_{{A}} ^{\mathrm{2}} \left({m}_{{A}} +{m}_{{B}} \right)}{\mathrm{2}{m}_{{B}} {g}}. \\ $$
