((x^2 −y^2 )/(x^2 −y^2 )) is not defined for x=y what you do here is not mathematics, it′s just drawing mathematical symbols
$$\frac{{x}^{\mathrm{2}} −{y}^{\mathrm{2}} }{{x}^{\mathrm{2}} −{y}^{\mathrm{2}} }\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{not}\:\mathrm{defined}\:\mathrm{for}\:{x}={y} \\ $$$$\mathrm{what}\:\mathrm{you}\:\mathrm{do}\:\mathrm{here}\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{not}\:\mathrm{mathematics},\:\mathrm{it}'\mathrm{s} \\ $$$$\mathrm{just}\:\mathrm{drawing}\:\mathrm{mathematical}\:\mathrm{symbols} \\ $$

Mr. ar 247 used to solve equations  like this:  Q. Solve: 5x−25=4x−20  A. 5(x−5)=4(x−5)  ⇒5=4  :)  :)  :)
$${Mr}.\:{ar}\:\mathrm{247}\:{used}\:{to}\:{solve}\:{equations} \\ $$$${like}\:{this}: \\ $$$${Q}.\:{Solve}:\:\mathrm{5}{x}−\mathrm{25}=\mathrm{4}{x}−\mathrm{20} \\ $$$${A}.\:\mathrm{5}\left({x}−\mathrm{5}\right)=\mathrm{4}\left({x}−\mathrm{5}\right) \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\mathrm{5}=\mathrm{4} \\ $$$$\left.:\left.\right)\left.\:\::\right)\:\::\right) \\ $$
