x = a + 42−a = 42 m^2
$${x}\:=\:{a}\:+\:\mathrm{42}−{a}\:=\:\mathrm{42}\:\mathrm{m}^{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$

S=area of square  A_1 +C_1 =(S/4)  A_2 +C_2 =(S/4)  ⇒A_1 +A_2 +C_1 +C_2 =(S/2)  ⇒A+C=(S/2)  similarly  ⇒B_1 +B_2 +D_1 +D_2 =(S/2)  ⇒B+D=(S/2)  ⇒A+C=B+D  ⇒24+48=30+x  ⇒x=42
$${S}={area}\:{of}\:{square} \\ $$$${A}_{\mathrm{1}} +{C}_{\mathrm{1}} =\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{4}} \\ $$$${A}_{\mathrm{2}} +{C}_{\mathrm{2}} =\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{4}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{A}_{\mathrm{1}} +{A}_{\mathrm{2}} +{C}_{\mathrm{1}} +{C}_{\mathrm{2}} =\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{A}+{C}=\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$${similarly} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{B}_{\mathrm{1}} +{B}_{\mathrm{2}} +{D}_{\mathrm{1}} +{D}_{\mathrm{2}} =\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{B}+{D}=\frac{{S}}{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{A}+{C}={B}+{D} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\mathrm{24}+\mathrm{48}=\mathrm{30}+{x} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow{x}=\mathrm{42} \\ $$
