Multiply by the conjugate both numerator and denominator (((4 − j5))/((1 + j2))) × (((1 − j2))/((1 − j2))) = ((4 − j8 − j5 + 10j^2 )/(1^2 − 4j^2 )) = ((4 − j8 − j5 + 10(−1))/(1^2 − 4(−1))) [j^2 = − 1] = ((4 − j8 − j5 − 10)/(1 + 4)) = ((− 6 − j13)/5) = ((−6)/5) − j((13)/5) = − 1.2 − j2.6
