1.02^2 =1.0404=104.04%  i.e. its area increases by 4.04%.
1.022=1.0404=104.04%i.e.itsareaincreasesby4.04%.

The increase (or decrease) of the  area is proportional to the square  of the increase (or decrease) of the  perimeter.
Theincrease(ordecrease)oftheareaisproportionaltothesquareoftheincrease(ordecrease)oftheperimeter.
