Let a−d,a,a+d are required numbers (a−d)+a+(a+d)=21 3a=21⇒a=7 ∴ 7−d,7,7+d are required numbers Now by given: (7−d)+2,7+3,(7+d)+9 are inGP 9−d,10,16+d are inGP ⇒((10)/(9−d))=((16+d)/(10)) 144−16d+9d−d^2 =100 d^2 +7d−44=0 (d+11)(d−4)=0 d=−11,4 •d=−11: 7−(−11),7,7+(−11) 18,7,−4 (Rejected because −4 is not +ve) •d=4: 7−4,7,7+4 3,7,11✓
