$${x}^{{y}} −{y}^{{x}} =\mathrm{17}\:{is}\:{a}\:{curve}.\:{you}\:{can}\:{not} \\ $$$${solve}\:{for}\:{x}\:{and}\:{y},\:{because}\:{a}\:{curve} \\ $$$${has}\:{infinite}\:{points}. \\ $$
