General linear equation : y = mx + c

where m is the constant slope

For ∣ x ∣, the slope is not constant, so it is not

linear - but it could be “ {divided}^{″} into linear parts .

∣ x ∣= {\begin{cases} x when x ⩾ 0 \\ - x when x < 0 \end{cases}

So, the slope is not constant, could be 1 or - 1 .
