let u=(√3)x+y  y=u−(√3)x  x^2 +(u−(√3)x)^2 −x(u−(√3)x)=3  (4+(√3))x^2 −(1+2(√3))ux+u^2 −3=0  such that x∈R,  Δ=(1+2(√3))^2 u^2 −4(4+(√3))(u^2 −3)≥0  −3u^2 +12(4+(√3))≥0  u^2 ≤4(4+(√3))  −2(√(4+(√3)))≤u≤2(√(4+(√3)))  i.e. the range of x(√3)+y is [−2(√(4+(√3))),2(√(4+(√3)))]
