if f is a polynomial fof(x)=2x ⇒f^, (f(x))f^′ (x)=2 ⇒y^, (y) = (2/y^′ )  degf =p ⇒degf^′ =p−1 ⇒2(p−1) =0 ⇒ p=1 ⇒f(x) =λx  f(f(x)) =2x ⇒ f(λx) =2x ⇒ λ(λx) =2x  ∀x ⇒ λ^2 =2 ⇒  λ =+^−  (√(2 ))  and  f(x)=+^− (√2) x

f(n) = an  f(f(n)) = f(an) = a(an) = a^2 n = 2n  a = ± (√2)  f(n) = ±n(√2)
