Domain of the explicit form of the function y represented implicitly by the equation (1+x)cosy−x^2 =0 is (a) (−1,1] (b) (−1, 1−(√)5/2] (c) [1−(√)5/2, 1+(√)5/2] (d) [0, 1+(√)5/2]

cos y =(x^2 /(x+1)) ⇒ x≠−1 ∧ (x^2 /(∣x+1∣))≤1 x^2 ≤∣x+1∣ f(x)=x^2 −x−1=0 ⇒ x_1 =(1/2)−((√5)/2); x_2 =(1/2)+((√5)/2) f(x)=x^2 +x+1=0 ⇒ no real solution ((1/2)−((√5)/2)≤x≤(1/2)+((√5)/2)) domain is [(1/2)−((√5)/2); (1/2)+((√5)/2)]
