one is x another is 2−x y=x^3 +(2−x)^2 (dy/dx)=3x^2 +2(2−x)(−1)=3x^2 −4+2x (d^2 y/dx^2 )=6x+2 for max/min (dy/dx)=0 3x^2 +2x−4=0 x=((−2±(√(4+48)))/(2×3))=((−2±2(√(13)))/6) x=((2(√(13)) −2)/6)=(((√(13)) −1)/3) and((−(√(13)) −1)/3)←−ve neglected ((d^2 y/dx^2 ))_(x=(((√(13)) −1)/3)) =6((((√(13)) −1)/3))+2=2(√(13)) >0 so one number is (((√(13)) −1)/3) snother is (2−(((√(13)) −1)/3))=(((7−(√(13)) )/3))
