SM = SA + AM  ⇒ 4x + 6 = x + 30  ⇒ 3x = 24  ⇒ x = 8 ⇒ SM = 4(8)+6 = 38
$${SM}\:=\:{SA}\:+\:{AM} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:\mathrm{4}{x}\:+\:\mathrm{6}\:=\:{x}\:+\:\mathrm{30} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:\mathrm{3}{x}\:=\:\mathrm{24} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:{x}\:=\:\mathrm{8}\:\Rightarrow\:{SM}\:=\:\mathrm{4}\left(\mathrm{8}\right)+\mathrm{6}\:=\:\mathrm{38} \\ $$

If the both parts of the question are related (i-e x is same) then BC=x+9=8+9=17
$${If}\:{the}\:{both}\:{parts}\:{of}\:{the}\:{question} \\ $$$${are}\:{related}\:\left({i}-{e}\:{x}\:{is}\:{same}\right)\:{then} \\ $$$${BC}={x}+\mathrm{9}=\mathrm{8}+\mathrm{9}=\mathrm{17} \\ $$
