Could you help me to understand thrice  equations please ?  Mainly the third one.

n_(i,i+1)   is the number of jumps  made in an interval t_i →t_(i+1)
$${n}_{{i},{i}+\mathrm{1}} \:\:{is}\:{the}\:{number}\:{of}\:{jumps} \\ $$$${made}\:{in}\:{an}\:{interval}\:{t}_{{i}} \rightarrow{t}_{{i}+\mathrm{1}} \\ $$

Thank you very much.  Could you please tell me alsowhat is the  time averaged flow q^(_  t)  and why is it to the  power of t ?
