suppose that y>x  applying the mean value theorem on [x,y]  siny−sinx=(y−x)cosc for some c∈(x,y)  now since ∣cosc∣≤1 we have  ∣siny−sinx∣=∣y−x∣∣cosc∣≤∣y−x∣
