P((3/4)) = 0 ⇒ P(x) = (x−(3/4))Q(x) We try for the simpliest Q(x) possible : Q(x) = a (constant) Let P(x) = a(x−(3/4)) P(2) = a(2−(3/4)) = (5/4)a = 5 ⇒ a = 4 and P(x) = 4x−3 We verify that : P(x) = 4x−3 = 4(x−3)+9 P(x) = 4x−3 = 4(x−4)+13 P(x) = 4x−3 = 4(x−10)+37 Solution : P(x) = 4x−3
