a+2d+a+7d=49 & a+4d+a+8d=58 2a+9d=49 2a+12d=58 _________ 3d=9 d=3 2a+9×3=49 2a=49−27 2a=22 a=11

$${a}+\mathrm{2}{d}+{a}+\mathrm{7}{d}=\mathrm{49}\:\&\:{a}+\mathrm{4}{d}+{a}+\mathrm{8}{d}=\mathrm{58} \\ $$$$\mathrm{2}{a}+\mathrm{9}{d}=\mathrm{49} \\ $$$$\mathrm{2}{a}+\mathrm{12}{d}=\mathrm{58} \\ $$$$\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ \\ $$$$\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\mathrm{3}{d}=\mathrm{9} \\ $$$${d}=\mathrm{3} \\ $$$$\mathrm{2}{a}+\mathrm{9}×\mathrm{3}=\mathrm{49} \\ $$$$\mathrm{2}{a}=\mathrm{49}−\mathrm{27} \\ $$$$\mathrm{2}{a}=\mathrm{22} \\ $$$${a}=\mathrm{11} \\ $$

suppose a is first term d is the common difference so a+2d+a+7d=49 ⇒2a+9d=49 a+4d+a+8d=58⇒2a+12d=58 3d=9⇒d=3 a=11

$${suppose}\:{a}\:{is}\:{first}\:{term}\:{d}\:\:{is}\:{the}\:{common}\:{difference} \\ $$$${so}\:{a}+\mathrm{2}{d}+{a}+\mathrm{7}{d}=\mathrm{49}\:\:\:\Rightarrow\mathrm{2}{a}+\mathrm{9}{d}=\mathrm{49} \\ $$$$ \\ $$$$\:\:{a}+\mathrm{4}{d}+{a}+\mathrm{8}{d}=\mathrm{58}\Rightarrow\mathrm{2}{a}+\mathrm{12}{d}=\mathrm{58} \\ $$$$\mathrm{3}{d}=\mathrm{9}\Rightarrow{d}=\mathrm{3} \\ $$$${a}=\mathrm{11} \\ $$
