r^2 =((l/2))^2 +h^2 for chord 1: r^2 =(((24)/2))^2 +h_1 ^2 ...(i) for chord 2: r^2 =(((10)/2))^2 +h_2 ^2 ...(ii) h_1 +h_2 =17 ...(iii) (i)−(ii): 0=12^2 −5^2 +h_1 ^2 −h_2 ^2 h_1 ^2 −(17−h_1 )^2 +119=0 h_1 ^2 +17h_1 −85=0 h_1 =((−17+(√(17^2 +4×85)))/2)=4.04 r=(√(144+4.04^2 ))=11.3≈11 cm
