((16))^(1/(x−1)) −5  (4)^(1/(x−1)) +2=0 find x?  16^(1/(x−1)) −5(4)^(1/(x−1)) +2=0  (4^(1/(x−1)) )^2 −5(4^(1/(x−1)) )+2=0  y^2 −5y+2=0; [ 4^(1/(x−1)) =y]  y=((5±(√(25−8)))/2)=((5±(√(17)))/2)  4^(1/(x−1)) =((5±(√(17)))/2)  ((1/(x−1)))log_2 4=log_2 (((5±(√(17)))/2))  ((1/(x−1)))log_2 4=log_2 (((5±(√(17)))/2))  2((1/(x−1)))=log_2 (((5±(√(17)))/2))     x=(2/(log_2 (((5±(√(17)))/2))))+1
