(a) You are listening to your favourite song on a CD. You note that the sound wave has a pleasant frequency of 12 Hertz. (i) What is the velovity of the sound wave (ii) What wavelenght are the wave moving at (iii) What is the period (b) 60 complete waves pass a particular point in 4 secs, if the distance between 3 successive troughs of the water is 15m. Calculate the speed of the wave.

b) n=60 and t=4 sec ⇒ f=(n/t)=((60)/4)=15 Hz 2λ=15 m ⇒ λ=7.5 m v=f.λ=15×7.5=112.5 m/sec

$$\left.\mathrm{b}\right)\:\mathrm{n}=\mathrm{60}\:\mathrm{and}\:\mathrm{t}=\mathrm{4}\:\mathrm{sec}\:\Rightarrow\:\mathrm{f}=\frac{\mathrm{n}}{\mathrm{t}}=\frac{\mathrm{60}}{\mathrm{4}}=\mathrm{15}\:\mathrm{Hz}\:\:\:\:\: \\ $$$$\:\:\:\:\:\mathrm{2}\lambda=\mathrm{15}\:\mathrm{m}\:\Rightarrow\:\lambda=\mathrm{7}.\mathrm{5}\:\mathrm{m} \\ $$$$\:\:\:\:\:\mathrm{v}=\mathrm{f}.\lambda=\mathrm{15}×\mathrm{7}.\mathrm{5}=\mathrm{112}.\mathrm{5}\:\mathrm{m}/\mathrm{sec} \\ $$
