gcd (54, 78) =6=side length of the square  ((78)/6)×((54)/6)=13×9=117=number of squares

$$\mathrm{gcd}\:\left(\mathrm{54},\:\mathrm{78}\right)\:=\mathrm{6}=\mathrm{side}\:\mathrm{length}\:\mathrm{of}\:\mathrm{the}\:\mathrm{square} \\ $$$$\frac{\mathrm{78}}{\mathrm{6}}×\frac{\mathrm{54}}{\mathrm{6}}=\mathrm{13}×\mathrm{9}=\mathrm{117}=\mathrm{number}\:\mathrm{of}\:\mathrm{squares} \\ $$
