x=(1/( (√2)))(√((14+9)^2 +7^2 ))=17

$${x}=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\:\sqrt{\mathrm{2}}}\sqrt{\left(\mathrm{14}+\mathrm{9}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} +\mathrm{7}^{\mathrm{2}} }=\mathrm{17} \\ $$

just calculating the diagonal, it′s 14+9  horizontal and 9 vertical...
