x is equal to (1/2) and y is equal to −1. sorry but I don′t understand what you don′t understand.

$${x}\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{equal}\:\mathrm{to}\:\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\:\mathrm{and}\:{y}\:\mathrm{is}\:\mathrm{equal}\:\mathrm{to}\:−\mathrm{1}.\:\mathrm{sorry}\:\mathrm{but} \\ $$$$\mathrm{I}\:\mathrm{don}'\mathrm{t}\:\mathrm{understand}\:\mathrm{what}\:\mathrm{you}\:\mathrm{don}'\mathrm{t}\:\mathrm{understand}. \\ $$

(x/y)=t  y(t+1)=ty^2 =t  ty^2 =t  ⇒  y^2 =1   but  t+1=ty   dont fit for y=1  ⇒  y=−1  t=−(1/2)  ⇒ x=ty = (−(1/2))(−1)=(1/2)  x=(1/2) ,  y=−1 .

$$\frac{{x}}{{y}}={t} \\ $$$${y}\left({t}+\mathrm{1}\right)={ty}^{\mathrm{2}} ={t} \\ $$$${ty}^{\mathrm{2}} ={t} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:\:{y}^{\mathrm{2}} =\mathrm{1}\:\:\:{but} \\ $$$${t}+\mathrm{1}={ty}\:\:\:{dont}\:{fit}\:{for}\:{y}=\mathrm{1} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:\:{y}=−\mathrm{1} \\ $$$${t}=−\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\:\:\Rightarrow\:{x}={ty}\:=\:\left(−\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\right)\left(−\mathrm{1}\right)=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}} \\ $$$${x}=\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\mathrm{2}}\:,\:\:{y}=−\mathrm{1}\:. \\ $$$$ \\ $$
