$$P(a\cos \theta ,b\sin \theta )$$$$let\mu =\frac{b}{a},\lambda =\frac{R}{a}$$$$\tan \phi =\frac{\mu }{\tan \theta }$$$$R\cos \phi +b\sin \theta =R$$$$\Rightarrow \lambda \frac{\tan \theta }{\sqrt{{\mu }^2+{\tan }^2\theta }}+\mu \sin \theta =\lambda$$$$...\theta =...$$
