$${(5-r)}^2-r^2=3^2$$$$\Rightarrow r=\frac{8}{5}$$$$x^2=2r^2+2r^2\times \frac{r}{5-r}=2\times \frac{8^2}{17}$$$$x=\frac{8\sqrt{34}}{17}$$
