sin (α + β) = sin α cos β + cos α sin β sin (α − β) = sin α cos β − cos α sin β sin (α + β) + sin (α − β) = 2 sin α cos β Let α + β = x and α − β = y so that α = ((x + y)/2) and β = ((x − y)/2). sin x + sin y = 2 sin ((x + y)/2) cos ((x − y)/2)
