$$\sqrt{2}-1=\mathbf{a}1-\sqrt{2}=-\mathbf{a}$$$$3{\mathbf{a}}^5+2{\mathbf{a}}^2-3{\mathbf{a}}^5+2{\mathbf{a}}^2+3=$$$$4{\mathbf{a}}^2+3=$$$$4{(\sqrt{2}-1)}^2+3=$$$$4(3-2\sqrt{2})+3=$$$$15-8\sqrt{2}$$
