$$\mathrm{\Delta }CAB\sim \mathrm{\Delta }CDE$$$$\frac{DE}{AB}=\frac{h_a}{a}=\frac{h_b}{b}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}$$$$\Rightarrow greenline=DE=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\times AB=\sqrt{3}$$
