$$\mathrm{If}\frac{1+\mathrm{x}}{\sqrt{3}}=3\mathrm{find}\mathrm{x}+\frac{1}{\mathrm{x}}-1=?$$

$$x=-1+3\sqrt{3}\Rightarrow \frac{1}{x}=\frac{1+3\sqrt{3}}{26}\Rightarrow x+\frac{1}{x}-1=\frac{-51+81\sqrt{3}}{26}$$
