x^2 −2x+3=(x−1)^2 +2  2x^2 −4x+4=2(x−1)^2 +2  let f(x)=a(x−1)^2 +2 with 1≤a≤2  f(5)=a(5−1)^2 +2=26  ⇒a=(3/2)  ⇒f(7)=(3/2)(7−1)^2 +2=3×18+2=56  Answer (C)
