9 + (7 × 2) − (10 × 4) − 5  = 9 + 14 − 40 − 5  = 23 − 40 − 5  = −17 − 5  = −22  So, the answer is no.

$$\mathrm{9}\:+\:\left(\mathrm{7}\:×\:\mathrm{2}\right)\:−\:\left(\mathrm{10}\:×\:\mathrm{4}\right)\:−\:\mathrm{5} \\ $$$$=\:\mathrm{9}\:+\:\mathrm{14}\:−\:\mathrm{40}\:−\:\mathrm{5} \\ $$$$=\:\mathrm{23}\:−\:\mathrm{40}\:−\:\mathrm{5} \\ $$$$=\:−\mathrm{17}\:−\:\mathrm{5} \\ $$$$=\:−\mathrm{22} \\ $$$$\mathrm{So},\:\mathrm{the}\:\mathrm{answer}\:\mathrm{is}\:\boldsymbol{\mathrm{no}}. \\ $$
