a) x^2 −2x+5=x^2 −2x+1+4=(x−1)^2 +4≥4>0 b) x^2 −2x−1=x^2 −2x+1−2=(x−1)^2 −3≥−3 c) x^2 +4x+2=x^2 +4x+4−2=(x+2)^2 −2≥−2 d) 2x^2 −6x+5=2(x^2 −3x+(9/4))+(1/2)=2(x−(3/2))^2 +(1/2)≥(1/2)>0 ⇒answer is a) and d)
