(1/(√r)) = (1/(√4)) + (1/(√2))  ⇒ r = 4 ( 3−2(√2)) units

$$\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\sqrt{{r}}}\:=\:\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\sqrt{\mathrm{4}}}\:+\:\frac{\mathrm{1}}{\sqrt{\mathrm{2}}} \\ $$$$\Rightarrow\:{r}\:=\:\mathrm{4}\:\left(\:\mathrm{3}−\mathrm{2}\sqrt{\mathrm{2}}\right)\:{units} \\ $$

r = ((r_1 r_2 )/(((√r_1 )+(√r_2 ) )^2 )) = ((4×2)/(((√4)+(√2))^2 ))     = (8/(6+4(√2))) = 4(3−2(√2) ).
