$$\frac{1}{\sqrt{r}}=\frac{1}{\sqrt{4}}+\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}$$$$\Rightarrow r=4(3-2\sqrt{2})units$$

$$r=\frac{r_1{r}_2}{{(\sqrt{r_1}+\sqrt{r_2})}^2}=\frac{4\times 2}{{(\sqrt{4}+\sqrt{2})}^2}$$$$=\frac{8}{6+4\sqrt{2}}=4(3-2\sqrt{2}).$$
