$$x=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$$$$x=\frac{-5\pm \sqrt{25-4\left(1\right)\left(2\right)}}{2\left(1\right)}$$$$x=\frac{-5\pm \sqrt{17}}{2}$$
