Question Number 76726 by Rio Michael last updated on 29/Dec/19

 var(x) = 2 then var(2x −3)=? E(x) = 2 then E(2x −3) = ?

var(x)=2thenvar(2x3)=?E(x)=2thenE(2x3)=?

E(x)=Σ_x xf(x)=2 so E(2x−3) = Σ_x (2x−3)f(x) = 2Σ_x xf(x)−Σ_x 3f(x) = 4−3Σ_x f(x)

E(x)=xxf(x)=2soE(2x3)=x(2x3)f(x)=2xxf(x)x3f(x)=43xf(x)

note : Σ_x f(x)=1

note:xf(x)=1

using by theorem E(2x−3)=2E(x)−3 so we get E(2x−3)=2×2−3=1

usingbytheoremE(2x3)=2E(x)3sowegetE(2x3)=2×23=1

var(2x−3)=2^2 var(x) = 4×2 =8

var(2x3)=22var(x)=4×2=8
