−18=(−5)×4+2  ⇒remainder = 2

18=(5)×4+2remainder=2

some define negative remainders  −18÷4=−(18÷4)=−4 remainder −2  ⇔  (−4)×4+(−2)=−16−2=−18  but I think it′s more common to keep remainders  positive
