$$S=areaofsquare$$$$A_1+C_1=\frac{S}{4}$$$$A_2+C_2=\frac{S}{4}$$$$\Rightarrow A_1+A_2+C_1+C_2=\frac{S}{2}$$$$\Rightarrow A+C=\frac{S}{2}$$$$similarly$$$$\Rightarrow B_1+B_2+D_1+D_2=\frac{S}{2}$$$$\Rightarrow B+D=\frac{S}{2}$$$$\Rightarrow A+C=B+D$$$$\Rightarrow 24+48=30+x$$$$\Rightarrow x=42$$
