a^2  + ab + b^2  = a^2  + 2ab + b^2  − ab =  = (a + b)^2  − ab

$${a}^{\mathrm{2}} \:+\:{ab}\:+\:{b}^{\mathrm{2}} \:=\:{a}^{\mathrm{2}} \:+\:\mathrm{2}{ab}\:+\:{b}^{\mathrm{2}} \:−\:{ab}\:= \\ $$$$=\:\left({a}\:+\:{b}\right)^{\mathrm{2}} \:−\:{ab} \\ $$
