$$\mathrm{\Delta }BDA\sim \mathrm{\Delta }BAC$$$$\frac{BD}{AB}=\frac{AB}{BC}$$$$\Rightarrow BD\times BC={AB}^2=6^2$$$$areaBCE=\frac{CE\times BC}{2}=\frac{BD\times BC}{2}$$$$=\frac{6^2}{2}=18$$
